REVIEW: COMORBIDITY OF ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION

Prof. KRT. Soejono Prawirohadikusumo MD Ph.D.

Comorbidity of Anxiety and depression was reviewed. Genetical-, family-, clinical-and epidemiological studies demonstrated comorbidity was a frequent phenomenon. The outcome of comorbidity, especially mixed anxiety depression tended to be worse with significant social-, and vocational impairment. Usefulness of the comorbidity concept, based on operationalized diagnosis is underlined. A combination of SSRI & Buspiron therapy for mixed anxiety depression was suggested.
